Everything You Need to Know About the Royal Wedding
The biggest wedding of the year just took place and with all eyes on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, we’ve rounded up all the little details related to the royal wedding. Nothing short of a fairytale, the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex kept the world entertained with the most publicized event for the year 2018. And trust us when we say, this couple was simply meant to be.
From the date and invitations to the décor and musicians, not to mention that breathtaking bespoke gown that kept the world in suspense since their engagement day, we’re listing it all.
The Invitations
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle chose to keep their invites classic and chic with a traditional British design of white background, golden borders, and jet black American ink. It was termed complete with Prince Charles badge of three feathers, all printed in gold ink.
The Venue
The breathtaking St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle was chosen as the wedding’s venue where 800 guests were to be accommodated. It took place according to schedule, 12 noon to be precise.
The Cake
Carefully chosen by the royal couple themselves, the cake was a lemon and elderflower masterpiece with spring flavors in full swing. It was created by Violet Cakes, London with Chef Claire Ptak in charge.
The Rings
Meghan Markle‘s engagement ring is yellow gold and the main stone is sourced from Botswana, where the couple spent time getting to know each other, with little diamonds on either side from Princess Diana’s jewelry collection to make sure that she was with them in spirit through out their journey together.
Meghan’s wedding ring is made with Clogau-Welsh Gold as per royal tradition since 1923, the gold is a gift from the Queen, while Prince Harry’s was a Platinum ring with a textured finish.
The Wedding Attire
Surprising the world with her choice, Meghan Markle looked stunning in her minimalistic chic wedding gown, complete in an ivory hue and elegant boat neckline. Custom designed by Clare Waight Keller from Givenchy, the Duchess of Sussex stayed true to her admiration for simplicity and wanted to tell the world her story, hence opted for an understated look.
The long-sleeved gown was complete with a 16-foot long veil, making a dramatic yet timeless entry for the royal bride. Made of silk tulle, the veil was handmade and included 53 embroidered flowers of thread and organza that represent each Commonwealth nation.
The dress was paired with a gorgeous Tiara Bandeau of Queen Mary, borrowed from the Queen’s jewelry collection, while Meghan was seen holding a small yet significant bouquet of flowers- sweet peas, jasmine, lily of the valley and some handpicked by Harry himself from the Kensington Palace garden.
Meghan kept her hair and makeup understated, carrying a messy bun with layers left loose towards the front. The makeup was minimal with light foundation, peachy blush, mascara, soft pink lips and warm-toned eyeshadow.
The bride flaunted Cartier diamond stud earrings and a Cartier white gold and diamond bracelet for a seamless touch of sparkle.
Depicting true sophistication, Prince Harry and the best man- the Duke of Cambridge Prince William wore the frockcoat uniform, tailored by Dege and Skinner.

The Wedding Service
In a magical setting adorned with white roses, birch, peonies and beech branches, the service commenced under the Dean of Windsor and was officiated by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
Both British and American choirs were included where ‘Stand by me’ was sung by Karen Gibson with Kingdom Choir, ‘Amen’ by the gospel choir and hymns included the Welsh ‘Bread of Heaven.’ A musical highlight was in the form of a young cello prodigy Sheku Kanneh Mason whose tune was cherished by all.
A known highlight of the service was a fiery and passionate speech made by Bishop Michael Curry on love.
After being married, the couple took a carriage procession throughout Windsor town, waving and smiling to hundreds of fans who came to get a glimpse of the royal couple.
The Guest List
Amongst close family and friends invited to the royal wedding, a number of celebrities from US and UK were seen that included Sir Elton John, David and Victoria Beckham, Joss Stone, James Blunt, Serena Williams, George and Amal Clooney, Priyanka Chopra, entire star cast from Suits, Oprah Winfrey and more.
The After Party
The evening celebrations hosted by Prince Charles took off with a bang as the Duke and Dutchess made their way to Frogmore House in a sexy Jaguar with a number plate stating their wedding date.
Harry chose a black suit with bowtie while his wife Meghan looked like a vision in a stylish sleeveless Stella Mc Cartney high neck gown, made of lily-white silk crepe. She was also seen sporting a sparkling aquamarine ring, which belonged to Princess Diana.
